Arthur
Chartow
Art
grew up in New York City in an artistic family in the midst of some
of the great art collections of the world. He attended High School of
Music and Art (now LaGuardia High). He earned a BFA at Carnegie-Mellon
University and later an MFA degree at Cranbrook Academy of Art, after
which he settled in Michigan.
Art's
pastels and oils are a contemporary updating of the American landscape
tradition established in the last century by the Luminists, the Hudson
River School, Church, Bierstadt, and Homer. He has shown in New York,
Chicago, Los Angeles, and Detroit.
