Arthur 
            Chartow
        Art 
          grew up in New York City in an artistic family in the midst of some 
          of the great art collections of the world. He attended High School of 
          Music and Art (now LaGuardia High). He earned a BFA at Carnegie-Mellon 
          University and later an MFA degree at Cranbrook Academy of Art, after 
          which he settled in Michigan. 
        
Art's 
          pastels and oils are a contemporary updating of the American landscape 
          tradition established in the last century by the Luminists, the Hudson 
          River School, Church, Bierstadt, and Homer. He has shown in New York, 
          Chicago, Los Angeles, and Detroit.
