Regina 
                  Fernandes is Brazilian and has been living in Edinburgh since 
                  1989. She is largely self-taught and has worked professionally 
                  in Brazil as an illustrator and in painted textiles. She has 
                  also designed and illustrated several books, outstanding among 
                  which is a limited edition of Lewis Carol's The Hunting of the 
                  Snark. Her career has been developing under the combined influences 
                  of her professional experiences as a designer/illustrator and 
                  her thoughtful progress as an independent artist. She works 
                  with oil, watercolour, coloured pencil, pastel and acrylics.
                Exhibitions: 
                  In the UK: regular mixed and solo shows at Hanover Fine Arts,Edinburgh 
                  since 1991. The Laing Art Competition, Talbot Rice Gallery, 
                  and selected for the Mall Galleries, London 1995. Mixed shows 
                  at The Leith Gallery, and Gallery 41. Westminster Galleries, 
                  London "Britain's Painters'91".- Retrospective at 
                  Carlyles Café in 1998, Edinburgh. In Brazil: a solo exhibition 
                  sponsored by the newspaper "Agora" (Alem Paraiba, 
                  MG) and two mixed shows sponsored by the Alem Paraiba Cultural 
                  Foundation. Works at Performance Gallery in Brasilia and Rio 
                  de Janeiro. Regina Fernandes has paintings in private collections 
                  in UK, Brazil, Spain, Germany, Canada, USA, Mexico and Japan.
