Mr.
Simunovic continues to find inspiration in his surroundings and is an
artist of sun and shadows, of seascapes, landscapes, and city scenes.
His sources of inspiration range from the Adriatic Islands, where Mr.
Simunovic's love of watercolors emerged, to the streets of Palo Alto,
which provide inspiration for him today.
While
his seascapes effectively capture the quiet, pensive mood of the coast,
Mr. Simunovic's landscapes are as varied as the California countryside
itself. While Mr. Simunovic excels at interpreting the silent beauty
of nature, he often turns his talents to the bustle, activity, and ever-changing
atmospheres of the city. He loves to paint the streets of Palo Alto,
San Francisco, and the Stanford
University
campus, scenes whose flavor and character remind him of Europe. Mr.
Simunovic's goal is to create atmosphere and mood through use of depth,
shadow and light. He loves to capture the feeling of the day at a particular
moment, solidifying that moment in watercolors before it disappears
from the world forever, Mr. Simunovic paints in watercolors because
every color, every shade must be deliberately considered.
Mr.
Simunovic's works are on permanent display in his own gallery, Stanford
Fine Art.
