Artist's Notes
Tombs of this type are not uncommon, though all have been broken and looted. One visits ancient city ruins built by Lycians, later rebuilt under Roman, Greek and Byzantine conquerors. Each civilization brought its unique style of construction, art, religion, agriculture, and language.
Turkey now boasts more Greek and Roman ruins than do Greece or Italy, because the Turks have protected their heritage.
