Does
my art have to be for sale to be featured on Artwalker?
No. Artwalker has been specifically designed to be an experience for
the visitor, and we welcome submissions of 'Not for sale' work, or
work that is no longer available. Allow your masterpiece to live on
through Artwalker, to the pleasure of others! Furthermore, if you
have other work that is for sale, then those who are disappointed
that one piece of work is not for sale may look for other pictures
available from you that are for sale.
Which
art medium does THE ARTWALKER PROJECT accept?
Oil paintings, watercolours, acrylics, charcoals, sketches etc.
We also accept photos or scans of 'tactile' art, such as carpets,
mosaics, stained glass etc. - as long as it is scenic and depicts
a real location somewhere on Earth, like that shown below:
How
old can the art be?
There are no restrictions. We will accept pictures hundreds
of years old, or the most contemporary.
How
long will my art remain on Artwalker?
For as long as you wish. No further fees will be required.
What
about commissioned work?
You may be considering rendering a complete Artwalk from scratch,
perhaps a landscape, city street, college campus, or even an airport
or golf course! We can assist in interesting the owners of a location
in commissioning your work, which would at the very least cover your
expenses. If you are interested in this type of project, please contact
us.
Why
should I put my art on ARTWALKER?
With more and more people gaining access to the Internet thanks to
the falling cost of computers and the recent introduction of low cost
Internet devices, ARTWALKER is a compelling, friendly and educational
medium with which many people from all over the world may discover
your art. And with Internet access set top boxes such as WebTV and
AOL TV now available, ARTWALKER is one of the first web sites that
can be enjoyed using a remote control or a wireless mouse. Ideal for
the couch potato art lover!
Of course,
ARTWALKER is only going to be of value to you if people know about
it. We are committed to promoting THE ARTWALKER PROJECT World-Wide,
ensuring the site increases in popularity as more and more art and
artists appear within the site. Try a search on the word 'Artwalker'
using any popular search engine.
Who
owns the art on Artwalker?
The copyright of each piece of work belongs to the artist or their
legally appointed representative.
How
is my art protected from theft?
THE ARTWALKER PROJECT is the first art website in the world to embed
a watermark in each picture displayed on the site, and to date, we
are not aware of any images having been 'stolen' since launch in 1996.
An opaque Artwalker logo is applied before the image is uploaded to
our server. This deters people from printing or displaying the picture
on another web site without your permission. If a picture is used
without your permission, then the Artwalker logo will make it clear
where the image was taken from and action can be taken.
Each
watermark is positioned 'by hand' and we do our best to avoid spoiling
the picture. Our aim is to encourage people to buy the picture
if
they like it so much! If you would rather we do not embed a watermark
in a particular picture of yours, please let
us know.
